She is a very passionate person and looks to help young people achieve their goals – their own “Everest” through the Awards Program. In 2003 she set up Auckland Challenge Incorporated; an organisation that assists young people in schools, youth groups and the community to achieve their Awards. There are over 500 people registered with the organisation and Kathryn runs drop in centres encompassing the North Shore, East, West and Central Auckland where youth involved with the Awards can ask questions and get advice. Through constant fundraising and building relationships with organisations such as the Auckland Council, Kathryn has been able to ensure that everyone can participate in Duke of Edinburgh, even those who struggle financially. Kathryn is also a serving sister in the Order of St John and has been involved in scouting for a number of years.
Nanette Carillo of Massey
